Board meetings are open to the public, except when confidential matters such as staffing, contracts, or legal issues are discussed. These meetings are essential for the governance of the Board, providing transparency and accountability in the management of water levels and flood risk across the district.

A key function of the Board is to review and oversee a wide range of activities, including the works programme, business cases, and developments affecting watercourses, as well as reviewing and agreeing on budgets. While these activities are largely led by officers, the Board plays a crucial role in ensuring they align with our strategic objectives. Additionally, the Board regularly assesses its own governance structures and practices to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, maintain high standards of operation, and support continuous improvement.
The Board also monitors its progress against the business plan, ensuring that we meet our commitments and effectively serve the interests of the community. Through these meetings, decisions are made that influence both the day-to-day operations and the long-term strategic direction of the Board.
