The Board has adopted key watercourses within its drainage district and carries out maintenance activities to them, balancing land drainage with biodiversity to support flood risk management. These watercourses are critical to the drainage network and are managed under permissive powers, meaning maintenance levels may vary.

Watercourses within our District not adopted by the Board are still subject to our byelaws and must be maintained by the landowner (riparian owner). For more information on riparian ownership, click here.
