Empowering Resilience
The North Kent Marshes Water Level Management Board is an independent Public Body responsible for managing water, reducing flood risks, and enhancing the environment across the north Kent marshes. Our District extends across the marshes from Gravesend to Seasalter.
Our role in water management and environmental stewardship
We manage water levels across a vast 23,667 hectare area, ensuring effective drainage and flood protection. We maintain 206 kilometres of watercourses, balancing the needs of land drainage, agriculture, and biodiversity.
Our work supports local communities, protects wildlife habitats, and helps sustain the environment. Through strategic water management, we contribute to the resilience and sustainability of the region, addressing the challenges posed by climate change and evolving land use.
